FAQ

Orthodontists in Dubai: what people ask

What is the difference between an orthodontist and a dentist?

An orthodontist is a dentist with several additional years of specialist training in tooth movement and bite correction, licensed as a specialist by the DHA. General dentists can legally offer aligner treatment, but complex movement belongs with a specialist.

When do I need an orthodontist rather than a general dentist?

For anything beyond minor cosmetic alignment: crossbites, deep bites, severe crowding, jaw discrepancies, or children’s development checks. If a general dentist proposes aligners for a complex case, a specialist second opinion is cheap insurance.

What happens at the first consultation?

Photos, X-rays and often a 3D scan, then a treatment plan with options, duration and a written quote. Many Dubai orthodontists offer the first assessment free or offset it against treatment; ask when booking.
